Nora McCarthy: Music

Something Red

I wrote this song when I first arrived in New York. The title came from a musician friend of mine who had written me a song and had asked me to write some lyrics for it. I did. It was a great song and he was a great musician but one day, he decided to change the name of his song to Red Herring because we had a slight falling out. I liked the title and used it for my song then wrote lyrics based on a compilation of sentiments expressed to me over the years by my paramours - my nickname being Red inspired many a romantic line ...... a great inspiration to write a love song to myself, one I wouldn't throw away or change my mind about... I can't tell you how many musicians love this song.....Thanks Jack!
Beckoning, stirring.
In my mind there's thoughts of something red.
Just like the rose that blooms in June,
Or a bright balloon,
It's the color of passion,
Symbol of pure love,
and the shade of inspiration....

Something Red, you are the flame, crimson red, and glowing, like, the setting sun, and warm like cinnamon.
You're touch is like a fire,
so hot that it sparked desire,
and made me fall in love,
with the ruby color of,
Something Red,
something,
magically,
hauntingly,
Red.
