Afro Blue/My Romance

Rogers & Hart and Mongo Santamaria respectively.
I loved the similarity of sentiment in these two wonderful classic jazz standards expressed from two quite different perspectives with a lot of freedom to interpret the intimacies of sexual attraction.
My Romance, doesn't need to have a moon is the sky. My Romance, doesn't need a blue lagoon, standing by. No month of May, no twinkling star, no hideaway, no soft guitar. My Romance, doesn't need a castle rising in Spain, or a dance to a constantly surprising refrain. Wide awake, I can make my most fantastic dreams come true. My Romance, doesn't need a thing but you.................Rogers&Hart.
AFRO BLUE
Dream of a land, my soul is from. I hear a hand stroke on a drum. Shades of delight, cocoa hue, rich as the night Afro Blue.
Elegant boy, beautiful girl, dancing for joy, derelictic whirl. Shades of delight, cocoa hue, rich as the night, Afro Blue.
Two young lovers are face to face, with undulating grace. They dimly sway then slip away to some exotic place. Shade of delight, cocoa hue, rich as the night, Afro Blue.
Whispering trees, echo their sighs, elegant breezes, tender replies. Lovers in flight, upward they climb, bursting on high, slowly subside.
Shades of delight, cocoa hue, rich as the night Afro Blue.
