THE DISSIDENT ARTS ORCHESTRA, improvisational music repertory ensemble that focuses on silent film scores returns to 17 Frost Theatre of the Arts. Expect another large ensemble of exemplary musicians under the leadership of John Pietaro to bring new life to early cinema.

The internet home-base of Percussionist JOHN PIETARO and a variety of radical music projects he is associated with. Pietaro plays vibraphone, xylophone, frame drums, drumkit, hand drums and a variety of small percussives in the free improvisation/new music/free jazz scene of New York City......THE RED MICROPHONE is Pietaro's ensemble that has a repertoire which ranges from reconstructions of Eisler and Brecht to free jazz and beyond......THE RADICAL ARTS FRONT is a collective of revolutionary Cultural Workers; our creativity is as militant as our politics!.......RADIO NOIR, Pietaro's 'dissident swing' quartet.....THE DISSIDENT ARTS FESTIVAL, the annual celebration of revolutionary music, poetry, film, founded in 2006.......THE DISSIDENT ARTS ORCHESTRA plays live improvised scores to silent film classics such as "Metropolis", "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", "Battleship Potemkin" and others.....plus The RADICAL LINKS section offers web connections ranging from Resources for Progressive Musicians/Listeners to an ever-growing list of Cultural Workers/Organizations and other links including Labor and more -------"The artist must elect to fight for freedom or for slavery.
